Delicious chocolate-flavoured frozen yogurt made with just three simple ingredients

I’ve been enjoying testing ice creams and milkshakes in the Ninja Creami this summer, and I wanted a lighter, lower-sugar alternative too. This chocolate frozen yogurt is simple, rich in chocolate flavour and made from just three basic ingredients.
I previously tried a coconut frozen yogurt that was delicious, and this chocolate version quickly became a favourite — creamy, not icy, and very easy to make.

Not Sure Which Creami Model Is For You?
If you’re planning to buy a Ninja Creami and don’t know which model fits your needs, there’s a comparison guide to help you choose the right one for your kitchen and budget.

How To Make Chocolate Frozen Yogurt
Homemade frozen yogurt can turn out icy if frozen and churned improperly, but using the Ninja Creami produces a smooth, scoopable texture that really resembles ice cream. There are just a few simple steps involved — the full ingredient list and quantities are in the recipe card below.
Follow these steps for the best results:

- Add vanilla yogurt, milk and cocoa powder into a Creami tub.

- Use a hand whisk to combine the ingredients until smooth.

- Freeze the sealed tub for 24 hours.

- Process in the Ninja Creami on FULL, then select FROZEN YOGURT mode.
After processing, the surface may appear a bit powdery — simply stir gently with a spoon to combine the texture, and it will be smooth underneath. Serve immediately for the best consistency.

Variations
Mix-ins: I kept this batch plain, but you can fold in chocolate chips, chopped nuts or cookie pieces after the first churn and use the machine’s MIX-IN mode to distribute them evenly.
Dairy-free: Substitute dairy-free yogurt and plant milk to make a vegan version — coconut, almond or oat yogurts work well.
Using plain yogurt: This recipe uses vanilla yogurt for a touch of sweetness, but plain or Greek yogurt will work if you add a couple of tablespoons of honey or maple syrup to taste.

Ninja Creami Tubs
The Ninja Creami typically comes with three tubs. I purchased extra tubs so I can keep multiple bases ready in the freezer for quick use — this saves time when you want to try different flavours.

Storing Leftovers
Leftover frozen yogurt stores well in the original tub in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat it, set it out for about 10 minutes to soften slightly, or return the tub to the machine and use the RE-SPIN function for a softer texture.
