Pomegranate Ice Cubes: Flavorful Tips for Cocktails & Drinks

pomegranate ice cubes

I’m a sucker for a good deal, so I often browse the grocery clearance aisle and stock up on staples when I find them. At home we mostly drink water, raw milk or coconut milk, and tea or coffee. Occasionally I’ll have kombucha, but it’s been ages since we’ve bought juice.

So when I spotted a jar of pomegranate juice marked down to one dollar, I impulsively tossed it into my cart. The juice is intensely sweet straight from the jar. I considered using it in a pudding or popsicles, but instead I decided to pour it into an ice cube tray. Frozen pomegranate cubes add a burst of flavor and color to sparkling water or a lemon drop shot.

A couple of notes:

  1. The pomegranate ice cubes stay quite soft, even after a few days in the freezer (these were photographed after two days).
  2. Because they’re softer than regular ice, they melt much faster, so plan accordingly when using them in drinks.
